Every once in a while you need to get a good haul of deals to feel re-energized with couponing again. Often times I never make it to the store to actually get the deals I post, especially lately as we prepare to move. But last night I went to Safeway for a late night shopping trip and ended up saving tons and getting lots of items for FREE. It reminds me why I coupon.
I’ve found the secret to my saving success at Safeway is e-coupons through cellfire.com and shortcuts.com. You can stack these coupons together PLUS use paper manufacturer coupons, which often results in FREE stuff. Read my detailed description at the bottom of this post to learn more about e-coupons.

More on the cellfire and shortcuts coupons
What to get started with e-coupons, but not sure where to start? Here is how it works. . .
- Sign up for FREE accounts at Cellfire.com and Shortcuts.com – it’s super easy!
- You hook your Safeway club card to your Cellfire.com and Shortcuts.com accounts – also FREE and super easy! (Also add your other select preferred shopping cards – the only other one in Puget Sound participating right now is QFC.)
- As new coupons are issued, click the “add” button and have them added to your preferred card.
- Coupons are generally issued every couple weeks, keep adding them as they come out!
- Shop at Safeway, buy products you have e-coupons for and when the cashier hits subtotal – all the e-coupons that apply come right off!
Why it’s awesome –
- You can use multiple e-coupons for one product!!
For example –- On Nov. 1 you added a $1/1 coupon for Nature Valley Granola Clusters through Cellfire.com
- On Nov. 1 you added a $1/1 coupon for Nature Valley Granola Clusters through Shortcuts.com
- You don’t use these and they are just hanging out on your card. . .
- On Nov. 15, Cellfire issues another $1/1 coupon for Nature Valley Clusters, so you add that one!
- On Nov. 15, Shortcuts issues another $1/1 coupon for Nature Valley Clusters, so you add that one!
- You now have FOUR $1/1 coupons for Nature Valley Clusters on your Club Card!
- All you have to do is BUY ONE PRODUCT – and ALL FOUR e-coupons are deducted!
- So you buy ONE Nature Valley Clusters product for $3.49 – $4 in e-coupons = FREE, plus OVERAGE!
- Use a printed manufacturer coupon ON TOP of your e-coupons!
- If you have a regular, printed coupon you can use that at the store, just as you would normally – it’s in ADDITION to your e-coupons
- So you could have up to FIVE coupons for ONE product!
A few other points –
- You can figure out what coupons you have accumulated on your accounts and print them out so you can see what you have on there (otherwise, it’s hard to know what you’ve got on your card).
- You never know when new coupons will be released, or for how much they will be for. Generally it’s every couple weeks.
- Watch your coupons to make sure they don’t expire! When you log into your Cellfire.com and Shortcuts.com accounts, they will show you when coupons expire.
- A lot of times Cellfire and Shortcuts will offer the SAME coupons, which means MORE savings for you, but they aren’t always the same.

I used my VocalPoint $1.50/1 coupon plus three printed $1/1
Not quite free but good enough for me!
