For my wedding I did all my own centerpieces and name cards and seating assignments.
My centerpieces were glass bowls with marbles that matched my colors and gold fish, for 15 tables the total was $30.00 and it looked beautiful.
For my name cards I took mini planters and painted them sage, got ribbon with our names and wedding date and taped that around the planters and then filled the planters with mini flowers matching our colors (you can find these flowers at your local craft store) and for 75 guests it cost me around $ 35.
For the seating chart I got a big cardboard poster board and used scrap booking decorations to decorate. That was less that $20.00 and I enjoyed every minute of making this stuff, get your bridesmaids together to help!
If you are getting married at a church, try to do it during a holiday when they might have flowers already ie: around Easter time.

I had a tiny wedding, like teeny, tiny 15 people wedding. Because of the tiny-ness of it and because we were on a budget, I just let the guests, AKA my family, take pictures. I wish, wish, wish that I had read the article on choosing a photographer to take professional pictures of our special day!

The tip I liked the most – so happy that I do not need to spend that much money on a wedding again – and wish I knew now what I didn’t then!
Biggest money saving tip is shopping around—be aware of everyone’s prices and ask if they can beat the competitors price. Also, don’t think you have to go with “Big name” companies for food, flowers etc. there are GREAT companies that cater beautifully that will give you a deal because they are just starting out. And flowers are fun and EASY to do yourself!! Go to Costco or local nurseries to explore the possibilities!

Wish I would have considered a morning wedding as it suggests in the Venues part 1. That would have saved money, but also, it would have been fun to have the rest of the day to just enjoy being a newlywed. We had a 4:00 wedding and didn’t leave until late-not because of the party, but because of cleaning up. If it had been earlier in the day I would have felt less guilty about leaving the clean up for my family.
I’m planning a san francisco themed wedding for my fiance and I. I know not the typical male role but its really fun. One idea that I had was that I wanted to do something different for the guest book. I decided to do a silhouette of the Golden Gate bridge then on the wire support of the bridge I hung postcards of san francisco fastened with clothespins. The guests will grab one fill it out and they will be compilled in a book that is visually and sentimentally interesting.
The biggest thing i learned from the get married on a budget series was all of the things I thought I couldn’t do it empowered me to do even more. diy things for my own wedding!
Learning that Costco did wedding flowers?! Great tip!!!
All the floral tips were great!
Best advice for saving on a wedding was to do your own food. We bought chicken from KFC & made all the sides to go with it & saved a ton of money.

We got married in Vegas and saved so much money by going the simple route and including the honeymoon right after the wedding. It was a small chapel off the strip. I got my simple white dress on clearance after prom for $40! I love simple!
money saving tip….. definetlly make your own invites. We had 300 invited guests and those invitations were pretty darn expensive, wish I had time to make my own

I like the idea of having an earlier/morning wedding. Those dinner plates really add up!
My favorite tip was the article on flowers!
I think one of the best tips I saw was that on checking in with new florists to take advantage of their wholesale floral savings, while also beating the high labor costs of well established businesses. It always pays to help out the new entrepreneurs!
