For those of you who live in the Puget Sound area – Tacoma Goodwills of the Olympics and Rainier Region is offering 50% off all books and media (VHS, DVD). I stopped in today and found some great deals for some late summer/fall reading for my kids. I got about 48 books for $12.13 (that includes tax!) – this averages $0.25 cents each! This total includes a specialty hardcover space/planet pop-up book that I bought for $2 (reg. $3.99, but 50% off).
My purchase even included a set of Brain Quest cards and a Geography & Map Activities workbook! It also included FIVE Pokemon short novels (which I have a very hard time finding through our library system), plus Magic Treehouse, I Can Read books, Hello Kitty drawing book, Care Bears book from 1983 (can you say flashback?!!) and more fun stuff.
I was able to get such a super deal because my local Goodwill sells kid’s books in grab/bargain bags – for $1.99. These bags contain anywhere from 8 – 12 books in a clear bag. Although you can’t see every book you’re getting, they are nearly always grouped with similar books/reading level and we think it’s fun to see what we get. These bags, at 50% off, were just $0.99 cents each.
The 50% off sale goes through Saturday, August 16.
This sale is only running at the Tacoma/Puget Sound Goodwill locations and is NOT a nationwide offer. Check your local Goodwill for local promotions.
Have you found any secondhand deals lately? Leave a comment and let me know!

Our Goodwill has 50% the last Saturday of the month. This excludes some of the newer stuff unless its neen in their store for more than a certain amount of time. We used to have a Bargain books store that had a $5 a bag sale at the end of the month for the books in the $1 room.Sadly they closed up in my area. But me and my sister used to go there every month and get books for our kids and also for our little cousins. We got some really nice hard cover books. We could usually fit 25 or so books per bag.

I live in Anahuac, TX and our thrift shop has all paper back books for 10¢ each and all hard covers for 25¢ each. I bought the 4 books in the Twilight series (for my niece) for $1.08, tax included!

I’ve found them at both the Lacey and Hawks Prairie Goodwill stores! This is in Washington. Hope this helps!
