It has to be a pretty big sale for me to load both my kids up (ages 5 and 2) and go on a BIG stock-up shopping trip. During the day when I’m home with the kids, I usually stick to the smaller trips, that don’t require me to count items (like mega sales) and won’t take me a long time. But I was dying to get to QFC to check out the deals – so the kids I went this morning. We survived and scored big!
I gave both kids four quarters before we left for the store. I said that every time they got the gimmies, whined or bickered, I got a quarter. If they had enough at the end of the shopping trip, they could pick something out. It worked out pretty good! They both ended up with $0.75 cents and were able to get a treat for after dinner tonight! Is this bribery? I don’t know – but it works better than my empty threats. (I’ve said it before, but I don’t give parenting advice. This was just my attempt at making it through the Mega sale with my mind still in one piece.)
Let’s talk deals. I got some MAJOR bargains. I spent about $70 on everything pictured above and I saved $170! Not too shabby if you ask me. We got a ton of lunch meat and Johnsonville sausages. And I got two 28 piece Rubbermaid sets that were regular priced at $19.99. My total would have been a lot lower but I did buy chips and a 50% off veggie tray since we are entertaining my parents from out-of-state this weekend.

What deal is your favorite? I think I did pretty good considering all the food I got. I filled a cart and then some. Have you been to QFC for the mega sale? I’d love to hear how your trip goes!

I’m a little late on this but two more days to go – just wondering about the buy 5 promo – do you have to buy in groups of 5 or is it discounted 50 cents each AFTER 5 items?
Heather says
Good question. It just has to be in increments of 5. So you could buy as few as 5 or you could buy 100 items – as long as it’s in groups of 5, the discount should come off.
Jenny says
Thank you for all your great ideas, answers and research! You are awesome!

Made the trip yesterday! I even remembered my free Breakfast Essentials, which I sent over to my brother, he loves the stuff! Also got the egg whites, 20 cans of beans, 6 packs of Johnsonville sausage, 11 cans of Hunt’s tomatoes, and 4 cans of Ro-Tel. Paid $25.11, saved $72.86. And got a congrats from the checker 🙂
Julie P. says
FYI on the free box of Carnation Breakfast Essentials at QFC (if you loaded it NLA)- you can use a coupon on this as well – so it was like a $1.50 money maker.
I actually purchased the box and a four-pack pre-mixed pack. I used the free eCoupon, two $1.50/1 coupons from the paper, a catalina for $1 printed since I bought two Carnation products, and I had two ibotta for $1.50 for each product ($3.00 ibotta credit). I was “paid” $1.20 for taking both the box and four-pack home.
Also, Peak Tea 54oz is on sale for $2.00. I had an ibotta for $0.75 – so only $1.25 for the big 54oz container). May want to check your ibotta account. (PS thank you I heart ibotta!)

I live around the corner from the Lacey QFC and the rubbermaid is sold out. I even asked if there were any in the back… Thanks for the tip though Queen Bee.
Heather says
Sorry Georgia! Hope you found some other deals.
Shana Masterson says
You did so good! Love the manager markdowns!!
With the Italian sausage I like to make a soup. It’s messy , but I take the skins off then pan fry till its nice and brown. One diced onion sauted. Then I add a can of drained white beans a can of diced tomatoes, box of chicken stock or 2. then at the last min I add a bag of baby spinach. Add some bread and you hane a healthy stockpile supper!
Grace says
Which QFC location, if you don’t mind me asking. TIA.
Heather says
I don’t mind! Lacey, Washington

Whoohoo Going there before work tonight to grab some of the free catfood I won and free egg beaters! I will pick up one of the rubbermail. I sure wish I could figure out how to get mailers for free products. I checked my contact info and my address is there…
Marsha says
I never get mailers from QFC either, and I’ve also checked online to confirm my address is correct.
