Kerr or Ball printable coupon – save $3 off 2 Ball or Kerr jars

Wahoo! There is a new printable coupon for $3 off any two cases of Ball or Kerr Jars and don’t forget that they were in our paper last Sunday – $3/2 Ball or Kerr Cases 06/03/2012 SS Insert (exp 07/29/2012)!

I’m hoping to do some canning this summer. I bought a Groupon for a canning class, I’ve been stocking up on jars and I’ve been trying to read as much as I can on the topic. This book is a beaut: Canning for a New Generation: Bold, Fresh Flavors for the Modern Pantry and it’s on sale for $9.81. It will ship FREE with Amazon Prime or with a qualifying purchase of $25.

I think this book would make a sweet gift and if you are looking for some new canning recipes this is a keeper! Check out the reviews, it gets high marks from beginner and expert canners.

If you’re looking the long-standing canning guide – Amazon has the Ball Complete Book of Home Preserving on sale for $12.47.

Thrift stores are a great place to check out for canning supplies!

Don’t forget Amazon can also be a great source for canning supplies!

What do you like to preserve or can? What are your favorite resources (books, websites)?

  1. Sorry, the site is http://www.pickyourown.org

  2. I can most of my own fruit, refried beans, salsa, tomato sauce, jams and jellies, etc… There are alot of sites that can tell you how to can everything. One that I usually use is http://www.pickyourown.com Reliable information and recipes. Good luck

  3. Amanda M. says:

Heather- Every year I can peaches, zucchini relish, tomato sauce, clam chowder base, 15 bean soup, apple pie filling, applesauce, pears, etc. I get my peaches and pears from Lattins Cider Mill. I would recommend that you use Elberta or Hale peaches. NOT the ones from the store, they are a different variety. The will put you on a list and when the fruit comes in you go pick it up. The only problem is that you are on call— just waiting for it to come in. When they call you have to be read to can within a few days. I will never go back to buying any canned fruit from the store. Once you learn how to can, you will never go back. I realize that you don’t know me at all but if you need any help, recipies or have any questions I would be happy to help. I think of it as a way to pay you back for all the help you give me every week with all the match ups! Plus, I think canning is a great thing to pass down to the next generation, my boys LOVE helping me. :)
