My local Goodwill stores (Goodwill of Olympics and Rainier region) are in the middle of a series of back-to-school sales. Last week was books – and I scored big paying about $0.25 a book! This week the promotion is furniture buy one, get one FREE (equal or lesser value).
I stopped in this morning and found these sturdy wooden chairs – priced each at $5.99. After the BOGO discount I paid just $3 a chair! The timing on this deal is perfect, the chair my son sits on for homework is one we got at IKEA about 12 years ago – and it rocks back and forth (it shouldn’t) no matter how much we tighten it. It was on it’s last legs – literally. So we’ve already replaced that chair with one of these new ones.
Once the kids are back in school and I have an extra 2 minutes to focus, I’ll pick up some paint and give these a little makeover. I think I’ll paint them a similar color (they are chipping) and I am thinking about a grey chevron print to reupholster the two chairs with the seat pads. If you have any tips for making over old chairs I’d love to hear your advice! Should I use chalk paint? Never have before. I’m a total amateur at this stuff.
The buy one, get one FREE sale goes through Saturday, August 23.
This sale is only running at the Tacoma/Puget Sound Goodwill locations and is NOT a nationwide offer. Check your local Goodwill for local promotions.
