We just post new QFC deals (starting tomorrow), but I also wanted to highlight that QFC has all Spice Island spices on sale 50% off through April 29. This makes them as low as $2.74. In last Sunday’s newspaper we had a $2/1 Spice Island coupon, making them as low as $0.74 after coupon!
Spice Island Spices – As low as $2.74 (already 50% off!)
$2/1 Bottle of Spice Islands Spices or Extracts from 4/13 Red Plum insert (we got this in News Tribune)
Final price = as low as $0.74 cents (reg. $5.49!)
The other thing to remember about spices is they are super affordable at WinCo. In fact, I just got a bunch of bulk spices this week for 50 cents – $1 for a whole bag of fresh bulk spices. This might be an option for you as well.
If you need some spice jars – maybe buy the spices at QFC this week in the jar and then refill with the bulk spices at Winco? Just an idea. WinCo also carries spice jars around $0.98 cents each.
NEW QFC deals start tomorrow. Make sure and check out the full list of QFC deals here.

Many better grocery stores have bulk spices; I have been refilling my bottles for years now at tremendous savings! I go to Fred Meyer or the Thriftways in Olympia.

Another great place to buy bulk spices is the co-op…they are so fresh….so in the end you can save even more money because you really do not need to use as much if they are more flavorful from being so fresh.

The price of bulk spices at Winco is great, but I’ve learned that you need to be choosy there. I bought either oregano or thyme last year that I thought was a little off-color, but when I got home and compared the strength of the scent to what I had at home, the difference was clear (as was the color difference). I recently bought a little anise seed and fennel seed, and when compared to what I had purchased downtown a few weeks before, the difference was again, very clear. I will still get garlic powder & cinnamon (though I have some from Penzey’s for recipes where I want a better cinnamon flavor) and perhaps a few others at Winco, but I’m going to be a lot more selective.
