Rise and Shine is my way of sitting down and having a cup of coffee with you! We talk about the new deals of the day, highlights from yesterday, and anything else that might help us save time, money or energy. Published Monday through Friday – as I’m able.
Good morning! How are you today? Yesterday we started the day off with a trip to Lowe’s. Then we came home and painted the back room in our house. I bought a color called Lyndhurst Gallery Beige (middle in picture above) – I was trying to go for the most unoffensive color possible. You know, a color that would make the house more likely to sell, right? Well I swear it has a purplish/lavender tone. 🙂 My daughter came into the room and said, “Ooh, I love this lavender!” Ugh. The color looks beige in the can, in the pan and on the brush. But for whatever reason, on the wall – it looks like a nice purplish brown. 🙂 Either way, it looks a million times better than before! The previous owners had a curtain fetish and had tiny holes above all the windows from installing all sorts of curtain systems. We filled in, sanded and fixed all the tiny holes and painting cleaned up all the scuffs and marks that happen to walls over time. For $20- $30 a can – painting is such an EASY way to fix up a room. Wish we had done this ages ago! I’ll share some photos after I get everything cleaned up.
So we recently changed it so we stopped doing the “highlights” posts and we linked to all the grocery match-ups in one post. I thought I was simplifying things. Making it easier to find things. Initial feedback is that you miss the old HIGHLIGHT posts – that feature the top 10 deals. Is this true? If so, we can bring those back. I want to make sure I’m serving you – making it easiest for you to save money. If you prefer the highlight posts, that’s what we’ll do. 🙂 Would love your feedback on this!
If you missed it yesterday – I’m giving away a $300 Great Wolf Lodge gift card! You can head over here and enter.

I agree with others. I like having the top deals listed separately as you did before.
Kristyl says
1. The same thing happened when we moved into our house! I picked colors and my dad was nice enough to paint before we moved in, so I never saw it until it was dry. I thought I was getting a perfect grey/beige and instead got purple! Oh well…
2. I like the grocery highlights better. We try to meal plan around sales so it was an easy way to narrow down which store we were going to shop at this week, and for me to see where my drug store destination was going to be based on what deals excited me
Thanks for all you do!
Caro says
If the best deals are marked, I don’t mind scrolling through the whole list. I really appreciate the “unadvertised” deals that are posted because I don’t carry a coupon binder with me to a store. Being “older,” I still miss the old days where all the items on sale were listed in the newspaper ads.
Kim Schmaltz says
i am a Real Estate Broker in the area and always recommend Benjamin Moore Blanched Almond for a paint color. It is amazing how paint colors change on different walls and lighting. In the Pacific NW we need lots of light and this color is reflective, warm and goes with everything!
angela says
I miss the individual top 10 store deals too. I hate having to scroll through the ENTIRE store deals to see the best price on the coupon deals. Thank you for being flexible! You’re my favorite site!
Julie says
Yeah, I agree…I liked it the old way better 🙂
Beth Johnson says
I liked the top ten posts for the grocery and drug stores, and I miss them. It was an easy at-a-glance way to see the best deals, without having to scroll through every deal.
Heather Clarke says
Hey Beth – Thank you for the feedback! We’re bringing them back. 🙂 Not every improvement is a good one! 🙂 We want to make it easy for people. 🙂 Appreciate your input!
Patti @ Paisley Street Designs says
Thanks for bringing back the old way of posting deals. Appreciate it!
