Rise and Shine is my way of sitting down and having a cup of coffee with you! We talk about the new deals of the day, highlights from yesterday, and anything else that might help us save time, money or energy.
Good morning! How was your weekend? Ours was nice – a good balance of busy and fun. On Saturday we went to YMCA Healthy Kids Day. It’s a FREE event, open to the public with bouncy houses, face painting, crafts, obstacle courses, dance performances and more. The kids always love going and I love that it doesn’t cost a dime!
On Saturday night, right before bedtime, my son lost his FIRST TOOTH! This was a big deal. We had a pretty involved conversation over on the Queen Bee Facebook page about how much tooth fairies pay – if you’re curious, you should check it out. I ended up giving him $5 and a Sacagawea dollar coin. I also wrote him a note from the tooth fairy. Will probably pay less for future teeth and I like the tradition of the “gold” coin, so we’ll probably keep that up.
My daughter and Rhubarb. My son has a real fear of all mascots (basically people in costumes), so he had zero interest in getting a photo with Rhubarb. And that’s okay – I have more photos of him, which I’ll share later this week, in a post all about the game!
Yesterday we went to a Tacoma Rainier’s game. I’ll be sharing more about that soon (I’ll hopefully have a giveaway!!). We love going to Rainier’s games – it’s so much fun and it’s such a family friendly event. The rain held off and although the Rainier’s didn’t win, we got to hang out with Rhubarb.
We’re nearly done with our seven-week series on getting married on a budget, and this week we’re tackling a big topic – catering and how to save money on the food at your wedding! This Saturday series is written by Rebecca Grant owner of New Creations Wedding Design & Coordination, one of Seattle’s Premiere Wedding Coordinators. She’s filled with a wealth of information and she’s a good friend of mine – so I know you’re in good hands.

Beth Johnson says
My “babies” are long past losing teeth now, but we also started the tradition of the “golden dollar” from the tooth fairy. Not so much fun running around a small town on a Sunday night because you didn’t realize it was THAT loose, searching for one. Just remember to have some stashed away at all times, especially in your suitcase when you visit Alaska, 😉
