Rise and Shine is my way of sitting down and having a cup of coffee with you! We talk about the new deals of the day, highlights from yesterday, and anything else that might help us save time, money or energy. Published Monday through Friday – as I’m able.
Good morning! How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun? We spent the weekend with my family who I don’t get to see very often because they live in Alaska. It was wonderful – we had lots of quality time – including my grandma teaching my son how to play Solitaire – something she did for me probably 25 years ago! It’s funny had a deck of cards that costs less than $2 can create some of the best memories. I used to play cards all the time with my grandma. 🙂
I can’t believe we’re into August, school will be here before we know it. We should see a huge uptick in offers for school supplies and school clothing deals. We’ll be covering them as we find them to help reduce everyone’s back-to-school expenses.
In fact, every Sunday we are sharing a round-up of the Best School Supply Deals. If you’re able, I recommend stopping at the office stores once a week and picking up the very best deals – the items priced at a penny or under $1. If you buy them slow and steady you’ll save the most – but you’ll want to factor in your gas and time. And you’ll want to be careful not to over purchase – which can be an easy thing to do when you start shopping early for something. Remember schools can always use donations – so if you get your limit on the penny items you can always donate extras.
If you signed up for the p a $25 FREE Rue La La credit to new members last week (no longer available) – check your Rue La La account – it should have appeared by now. You have until August 24, 2014 to use your credit toward a purchase. Shipping is $9.95 and it gets your FREE shipping for a month!
I also shared an exciting giveaway for Adrift Hotel in Long Beach, Washington. We LOVE this place! In fact, we just had the pleasure of going for two-nights this month and I couldn’t wait to tell you all about it. Be sure to check out my full review and enter to win over here.

Amazon dropped the price on these Frosted S’mores Pop-Tarts, 12-Count Tarts (Pack of 12) to $29.92 with Subscribe and Save. You can clip a coupon for an additional 20% off – bringing your total to $23.62. If you have Amazon Mom account and 5+ Subscribe and Save orders this month, you’ll pay just $18.90 after discount and coupon! Making each box only $1.58 each shipped. This is a great price!
Wilton 2304-1050 101-Piece Cookie Cutter Set – $10.19. This is the best price! We have this set of cookie cutters and use them all the time for play dough, as well as cookies!
Keebler Club Crackers, 5.25-Ounce Boxes (pack of 12) -$8.91 with subscribe and save and 20% coupon. If you have FIVE Subscribe and Save orders this month and an Amazon Mom account – you’ll pay as little as $7.12 after coupon and discount. That’s like paying $0.60 for each box! I think these are a smaller size box at 5.25 oz – but I personally like the smaller box as it seems I’m always throwing away half a box of stale crackers. Also – the per cracker coupon is pretty good – as a regular box is about twice the size – and that would still be only $1.20 ish a box.
We updated this list of the best Amazon subscribe and save deals over the weekend – so be sure to check it out if you’re looking for more awesome deals to get the 20% off discount.

We spent the weekend at my Dad’s on Hood canal, and made your Crock Pot Chicken Santa Fe. Twice. The first night I subbed ground beef, and served it in tortillas or with chips, and everyone loved it so much, the second night we used chicken and served it over rice. Easy, and we used up a bunch of stuff that was in their pantry getting a little old 🙂
