Rise and Shine is my way of sitting down and having a cup of coffee with you! We talk about the new deals of the day, highlights from yesterday, and anything else that might help us save time, money or energy. Published Monday through Friday – as I’m able.
Good morning! I hope your day is off to a great start. I mentioned yesterday that we are all fighting a bug here at our place. My son especially has been fighting a cough on and off the last couple weeks I’ve been on the phone with nurses more than once and even brought him into the doctor’s office last Friday to make sure there wasn’t anything we could do. They said it had to run it’s course, that it was probably viral – but last night around 8 p.m. he was having trouble sleeping and I noticed he felt hot – he had a fever of 103.5! I called our consulting nurse and took him right into Urgent Care. It was a long night – he got chest x-rays and thankfully his lungs are clear, they gave him Tylenol to drop his fever and they think he has a bacterial bronchitis, so he’s on antibiotics. This morning, even with little sleep and a long to do list, I am so grateful. Grateful for medical personnel, grateful for medical benefits, grateful for medicines that can cure my little guy. Hoping a day of rest and cuddles will get him on the road to recovery. I hope you and your family are staying healthy!
The Super Bowl is just FOUR days away!! We are getting so excited – my son’s biggest worry last night while sick was – will I be able to have friends over to watch the game!?! Ha! And because the food you eat is almost as important as the commercials and the game, we put together a Deals to Meals post – Super Bowl Style! We matched up the grocery store ads with delicious game day recipes and even listed some snacks on the go!
And along those same lines, I was delighted that the Bleacher Report linked to my Seahawks Party ideas yesterday! How fun. 🙂
And because I’m sure you’re wondering (not) . . . .we are having nachos for the Super Bowl. I’ll be making this Beef Salsa Verde recipe in my Seahawks Crockpot and then serving it over chips (they HAVE to be Juanita’s chips, that’s non-negotiable) with a slew of topping options – lettuce shreds, olives, sour cream, black beans, jalapeños. . . you get the idea. The key to “righteous” nachos is buying a big can of Que Bueno nacho cheese from Costco – you know, fake cheese, that liquifies just by looking at it – that’s the stuff you want on your Super Bowl nachos. That is what makes them gourmet.
