Rise and Shine is my way of sitting down and having a cup of coffee with you! We talk about the new deals of the day, highlights from yesterday, and anything else that might help us save time, money or energy. I share with you what’s happening with me – and I LOVE to hear about what’s happening with you.
Good morning!
Last night we took the kids to Huntamer Park (a local park) to see the Reptile Man – this cool dude who travels around the state teaching little ones about reptiles! This is part of the Lacey Parks and Recs summer programs – all free to the public. It was a beautiful night and love that it didn’t cost us a dime. Check your local parks department for summer concert series, kids programs or outdoor activities!
What sort of fun, free activities have you been doing?
Also stopped into Target yesterday. Didn’t find too much on clearance, except patio and outdoor furniture was 50% off. It should drop to 75% off soon – and that’s the day to go, because there will be some awesome deals. I also spotted an entire row of women’s shoes 30% off, lots of sandals and summer wedges, so much stock that I think they’ll easily make it to 50-70% off, but you never know. This was at the Lacey, WA Target, but I bet you’ll find similar deals at your local Target.
Regal Summer Movie Express – $1 kids movies are back for Summer 2013! Regal Cinemas offers $1 movie admission to popular kid’s G and PG movies at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout the summer.

Refer a friend and your friend gets $20 off their first haircut and you get a $20 gift card in the mail! I got my hair all fixed up in May by stylist Robert and he did a fantastic job. So tell them Heather Clarke referred you and you’ll get $20 off your first hair cut! Hair cuts start at $29 and go up to $44 depending on your stylist. You can call Robert Allan salon at (360) 357-8622 to learn more.
Puget Sound friends – here’s a News Tribune discount! For those of you wanting MULTIPLE Sunday papers, you can get up to NINE (9) of these subscription offers. Just multiple the number of papers you want by the package price. So if you want two Sunday papers delivered each week, you’d buy either two 26-week packages for $78 or you’d pay $104 for an entire year, 52 weeks of delivery. The big bummer is this is a pre-paid offer, so you’d have to pay that up front. But the good news is this can help those of you heading to the Dollar Tree every day and spending the money anyway! Get all the details here.
Have a great day!
Get Rise and Shine as a daily email! I have been enjoying Tacoma’s free splash parks this week. I have always wanted to check them out, and this heat was great motivation. These parks are wonderful–clean, easy to access, good parking, lots of toys and sprinklers for various ages. I highly recommend them! Carpool to save gas–makes for a very fun and cheap play date!

I need to drive up to Tacoma on a hot day and give them a try. I love MetroParks Tacoma (I used to work for the City when I first graduated from college) and really believe they provide amazing services to the City of Tacoma! So awesome, thanks for sharing!
