Rise and Shine is my way of sitting down and having a cup of coffee with you! We talk about the new deals of the day, highlights from yesterday, and anything else that might help us save time, money or energy. Published Monday through Friday – as I’m able.
Good morning! How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun? Can’t believe we only have two more days of September, it’s gone by so fast!
Friday night I took the kids to Goodwill for a little treasure hunting. My son was crazy excited to find a Minecraft costume head for $2.99. This retails fro $24 – $26 online. My son just recently got into Minecraft and this was quite a find for him! So I have Googled Minecraft and I’ve tried to figure it out – I cannot for the life of me figure it out. Do kids use the LEGO Minecraft sets to play against each other? Or are the LEGO sets just for building for fun and there is a video game that kids play? Is it a computer game or is it video gaming system game? I’m so ignorant when it comes to things, I can’t figure it out and seriously, Google is letting me down on this one! Any Minecraft tips or advice will be much appreciated.
Yesterday we took the kids to the Dollar Tree to pick out some Halloween decorations. Seriously – don’t pay $3-4 for fake spider webs and window clings at other retailers – get them for $1! They also have pumpkin cut outs, cute glittery pumpkins and other inexpensive decorations. The kids were tickled getting to pick out a couple items each and we saved a ton. We’ll probably decorate the front door on Wednesday or Thursday.
I did make it to the grocery store yesterday morning and found some great manager markdowns, including mushrooms and tofu – so I made a big batch of Hot & Sour soup for dinner last night. It’s great for clearing your sinuses and/or making you feel better. I also found a batch of beef stew meat on markdown and hope to make some Crockpot Beef Barley soup or Beef stew today in preparation for Crock-tober, which should start Wednesday. Send in your favorite Crockpot recipes and if I feature your recipe, you’ll earn a $10 Amazon gift card!
Yesterday, I got an email from Amazon about Amazon Mom changes which are scheduled to take effect November 11, 2014. Minecraft…
As far as I have seen the lego sets are just for building fun. The game is on the PC and gaming consoles but players can only play with like set ups ie a PC user can play with other PC users, PS3 Minecraft can only play with other PS3 Minecraft Players. My Minecraft fanatic daughter now has bought Minecraft on the PC, Xbox and PS3 so she can play online with all her friends who have it. It is fun that beyond the building of worlds they often play games inside the world, I have listened to them playing Minecraft games of Cops and Robbers, Hide and Seek and other make believe games. For the PC the books are helpful because they have recipes for building, but building on the consoles is much easier. I don’t know the age of your young’en but we limit our daughter to playing with friends on the consoles because on the PC they are playing in an open server where they could be interacting with anyone. So she builds solo on the PC and plays with her friends on the consoles. Hope this helps! -Teri
