Rise and Shine is my way of sitting down and having a cup of coffee with you! We talk about the new deals of the day, highlights from yesterday, and anything else that might help us save time, money or energy. Published Monday through Friday – as I’m able.
Good morning!! Hello, Monday. How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun? We had fun (see photos on Instagram) but mostly just soaked in the sun and spent time around the house. With 80-90 degree weather the kids played in the yard, a lot. Dirt. Mud. Running. Games. We all slept good at night!
My September Amazon Subscribe and Save order was delivered Friday through Sunday and I shared all about it this weekend. Admittedly, the amount of toilet paper is a bit ridiculous, but we have room in the garage to store it and the price was right. Do you do Subscribe and Save?
This weekend the kids and I read this book, Fill a Bucket: A Guide to Daily Happiness for Young Children, and I really liked it. It talks about how each and everyone of us is born with a bucket. Every time we are around others – we have the opportunity to fill their buckets. Being kind, helpful, loving – these things fill the buckets of others. When our bucket is full, we feel joy. When we fill the buckets of others – they feel joy! We have long told our kids that every interaction they have with others is an opportunity to build them up – to make them feel BETTER and this book illustrated it in a way that resonated with my kiddos (ages 7 and 4). Last night when tucking my son into bed, we talked about how we can fill the buckets of our friends and teachers at school. We hugged and my son said, “Mom, your hugs fill my bucket.” Be still my heart. I just smiled, hugged him again, and told him he filled my bucket, too. It’s an offshoot of this book, How Full Is Your Bucket?, which I read in 2004 – the adult version of the concept, and also a great book to read. If this sounds like something you’d like you should check out your local library.
