khrysthyne says
safeway’s #1 priority is customer service
khrysthyne says
ok everyone…. if safeway is refusing the coupon, ask to talk with store mgr. and if that does not work call the safeway customer service line -1-877-safeway. I have worked for the company for over 18yrs. and know safeway does not want to lose customers because the checker is being “whatever” we can not double internet coupons and we can not accept free coupons. and if u have a mfr coupon and a jfu mfr coupon downloaded on your card, the register will prompt too many coupons.also mfr copupons from the paper are total legit!! it’s from the news paper,so that checker needs to quit being a douche..lol
i have to know all the rules for it,it’s my job.. I’m the pricing mgr for my store! perfect job for a coupon whore like me..lol
Alyshia says
Thanks for all the great info! This should definitely help some of us out.
jules says
I also have big problems with printed coupons at Safeway. They dont’ accept the long bar codes and sometimes manu. coupons from the newspaper don’t even scan. They also seem to just assume that they have been photocopied, which I absolutely don’t do.
Sandra says
How do I know if the Just for You coupon is a store coupon or a manufacturer coupon?
Alyshia says
I believe if the e-coupon has a “given price” or just says something like “$1 off” it is a store coupon. If it says “Save $1” then it is a manufacturer coupon. The manufacturer coupons sometimes will have a little ‘Unilever’ symbol on them too. Hope that helps!
Chrissy says
my safeway will not take coupons that I have printed and only have the long barcode? The short barcode works fine….
Alyshia says
Hmmm – that’s interesting. The long barcode is the updated version of the coupons I thought, so they must not have updated their registers? That would be annoying – too bad they won’t key it in.
Sarah says
Mine won’t either. If it won’t/doesn’t scan, they refuse to accept them. SUPER annoying. I have to look at my barcodes before shopping there. They are the new barcodes and if it is a man. coupon they override and key it in, but not printed ones. They said it’s Safeway policy and it does say that in their policy. 🙁
Alyshia says
That’s really too bad – I hate it when stores get too knit picky with coupons. Especially for a coupon designed to keep down coupon fraud, you’d think they would be more than willing to hop on board for a cause like that.
Jen says
Thank you for all your hard work!
Jenny says
not seeing the poptart coupon
Alyshia says
Ok – thanks Jenny! I updated the post – there’s a $0.50/1 Oatmeal variety one if you like that flavor, but it looks like the $1/3 is gone.
Heather H says
Thank you for this list…I was just sitting down to finalize my shopping trip! BTW, love the fact that you put the stock ups in red too! Thanks again for all the hard work! 🙂
Alyshia says
Thanks Heather – so happy the list is a big help!
