I’m not seeing the coupon anymore. what zipcode should I use to find it? Thank you.

The University Place Safeway store told me the same thing a while back – no coupons that make the item more than 50% off. At the time, I was also told that this is an old policy and I should have talked with the manager. But, the Tacoma Safeway had no problem accepting a printed coupon that made an item free, so I just went there.

The Safeway closest to me (Federal Way) has that same policy-no printed coupons that have a value that is more than 50% of product price.Needless to say, don’t shop there much.

I live in the Lacey/Olympia area and every time I go to Safeway with coupons, it seems the policy “just changed”. The one thing that has been consistent is that they don’t take printed coupons that allow something to be free or make an item more than 50% off. I ask to speak to a manager and even show them their policy and they always say “it’s different at each store”. :*(

I get that all the time too from the store on Yelm Hwy. I now take my printed coupons to the one on Carpenter. They always go the extra step to help out.

That is so funny. This is exactly the store I bought three of the Grapefruit juices at and got the picture from. I have never had any problems there. I would call the Safeway hotline or email them at safewayonfacebook@safeway.com to see what’s up. The more comments about the store the Corporate office gets, the more they will check into it. I’ll send an email too – just to see what is going on?

I have gotten that response from the Safeway off of Carpenter and the one off Martin Way (next to Lowe’s). It’s so frustrating since many times I will have 2 or 3 of an item that I wouldn’t have purchased without the coupon and the lines are so long as it is, so I feel really bad making them search for the item in my bags to return it. I usually end up leaving the store paying full price for the items. Now I just don’t even chance it and avoid Safeway all together. One time I just left my entire purchase at the register because I was so frustrated and the only reason I had even gone to the store was to get the coupon items. I will definitely try sending an email to corporate. Thanks for the advice.

That is so frustrating – I would have done the same thing. I sent an email to Safeway yesterday and haven’t heard anything, but I will try to call today. Let us know if you hear anything back! š

That is very interesting and sad! That is also the third time I have heard that. I also live in the Lacey/Olympia area and no one has ever told me that (I heard that all the time back in the day when that was the coupon policy). What stores are telling you this? It is not up to each store – it is a corporate policy. I usually go to the Tumwater or Yelm Hwy. store. They have been great with coupons – no problems what so ever.
I would definitely call up the Safeway hotline or email them at safewayonfacebook@safeway.com. I used to work at Safeway and corporate takes compliments and complaints very seriously. Mention names and stores, they’ll usually call them up.
