What’s going on with Albertsons doublers?

Update – I heard from Albertsons officially after posting this rumor post – see my updated Albertsons post here.

Oh, the rumor mill is all a BUZZ about what might happen to the Albertsons doublers program. . . . some rumors I’ve read or heard are:

  1. RUMOR – Albertsons doublers program is ending indefinitely
  2. RUMOR – Albertsons doublers will NO longer be offered in stores (only in the newspapers)
  3. RUMOR – Albertsons is limiting transactions to one person, per day, no exceptions.
  4. RUMOR – You will only be able to use doublers if you dress up like a chicken.

ALL of these are still RUMORS, I don’t think anything official has been released yet. I e-mailed both my contact at Albertsons PR company and corporate SUPERVALU yesterday trying to track the answers down. As soon as I hear anything – I will let you know. But until then, I wouldn’t sweat it. No reason to get all excited about rumors.

What will likely happen? One of the rumors above will be true or slightly true. I’m guessing RUMOR #2 and possibly RUMOR #3. But I know just as much as you do.
Will we still save lots of money at Albertsons? Yes, I think so.
Am I losing any sleep over it? Not yet.
And yes, I made Rumor #4 up. We’ll see if it catches on.

I’ll keep you posted as soon as I hear anything!

What have you heard? What are your thoughts about all of this?

I would love to see them do a electronic version of doublers. or even better just double all coupons up to $1. We can only dream. lol

  2. A cashier told me this week that they will only be available in the newspaper, no longer at the Customer Service desk. On a positive note, I was there last night for their Buy 10, Save $5 sale and I was still able to buy 20 items (Twizzlers, Hershey syrups, Lawry’s marinades, etc) for $11 and I didn’t use one doubler and it was all done in one transaction! I think that’s a win in my book!

My store told me that it is only three transactions a day per household:( And that they were limiting the amount of products that someone could get and making them order it if over a certain amount:)

  4. Michelle says:

So from what I understand about doublers at Albertsons,
My regular customers work their, the only thing changing
Is they are going to make it where you use three in one
Transaction, go to the end of the line to do another three in
A transaction!! This has always been the policy
Some checkers have been nice and allowed to ring you up
For another transaction to help you out!

  5. A cashier at my Albertsons told a woman in front of me that as of this week, future doublers will be limited to one set at customer service. In the past I guess you could get three (I never tried ). She said some stores (like Spanaway store) had been limiting in store doublers to one set for awhile, but now all stores will.

  6. Any word on TTV coming this weekend?

    • I heard they were going to, but then canceled them? Maybe they just canceled them for in-store pick-up but they could still be in the paper? Not sure. We are waiting to find out.
