Two days left to apply! Closes Friday night, April 20 at 9 p.m. PST!
A little more than two years ago when I started Queen Bee, I never imagined that it would be anything more than me blogging in my pajamas whenever I got the itch to talk about coupons. It’s become so much more than that – and I need help. Currently the Queen Bee team consists of myself (Heather), Alyshia who is our Target and Walgreens guru, and Maygan our sweepstakes star and Fred Meyer expert.
It’s just the three of us – and in reality it’s primarily me posting deals on a regular, daily basis. I LOVE blogging and delivering the deals, but I just can’t keep up and still live a balanced, healthy life as a mom, wife and friend – while still keeping the site updated enough to my standards. So I’m looking for some more help.
Adding additional people to the Queen Bee team is a complicated and tricky thing – because I’m looking for a very unique combination of traits and frankly, it’s a unique job. Please read this post in it’s entirety to get a good grasp of what I’m looking for.
My wish list for contractors:
- Ethical, honest, loyal
- Reliable. Reliable. Reliable.
- Must coupon personally on a regular basis, and have couponed regularly for at least six months
- Must be passionate about frugal living and couponing
- Must know the difference between a good deal, a great deal and a get-out-of-your-pajamas-and-run-to-the-store deal
- Attention to detail, willingness to go extra mile to make deals easy and clear for our readers
- Good time management, able to prioritize time sensitive posts
- Tech savvy – easily navigate the web, operate and efficiently use a computer (must have own computer). WordPress experience is a PLUS!
- Cheerful disposition (sorry, no grumps!)
- Flexible, team player.
- Northwest based (preferred) for Albertsons, but anywhere Nationwide for Rite Aid
- Commit to a schedule, meet deadlines
- And again: Ethical, honest, loyal
I currently need: Albertsons and Rite Aid deals. That’s my main priority, right now (I would love to add more later)
- If you start salivating at the news of doublers and you wake up at the crack of Sunday dawn to get-your-doubler-on – we should talk.
- If Rite Aid is your favorite drug store, you know what’s up with UP Rewards, you shop at Rite Aid weekly – we should talk.
- You don’t have to do both stores – just one or the other. I think I want two people – one for each store, to avoid burnout and to get the best possible deals at each store.
Here are the posts, I’m specifically looking for:
- Albertsons ad match-up – Take weekly Albertsons ad and match-up coupons, catalinas and in-store promotions and develop a comprehensive weekly list for readers. (1-2 hours) – due Tuesday/Wednesday. Hopefully you get the ad in the mail Tuesday’s so you can do the match-up on Tuesday or early Wednesday.
- Albertsons doublers – On weeks that we have Albertsons doublers make a personal trip to the store to find unadvertised doubler deals for readers (1-2 hours) – due Thursday/Friday
- Rite Aid ad match-up – Take weekly Rite Aid ad and match-up store coupons, manufacturer coupons, UP Rewards and in-store clearance deals to provide a list for readers. (1-2 hours) – due Friday/Saturday
- Possibility of more. . .if it’s a good fit!
Here are a few other things to note:
- You will not get rich blogging (sorry, it’s true!) but I will pay you fairly for your time (about $10-$15/hr, negotiable upon hiring)
- Looking for someone passionate and active as a couponer. If you are personally always shopping with coupons in mind, looking for that unadvertised deal, and in the loop with the coupon community – this job is going to take you a lot less time and energy! It will be part of what you are already doing.
- I hire contractors (not employees) – so you’d
need a business license(I heard that as long as you’re reporting your income you may not need a license?) and you’d work independently as a Queen Bee contractor. This means you’re responsible for paying your own taxes and/or handling yourself as a separate entity. - Work from your own location – whether it’s your home or favorite coffee-shop. There is no Queen Bee office, LOL. We all work from home – you can do your job pretty much anywhere you have internet, ads and stores nearby!
- Cannot have competing blog – Sorry, but ideally you would not have a competing blog in the same niche (coupons/deals/frugal living). It’s too easily a conflict of interest.
- Drama-free, please – If you could easily be on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills with your drama-laden days, please don’t apply – we probably wouldn’t make a good fit. We are a gossip-free, supportive team of amazing ladies and I’d like to keep it that way.
- No extreme couponing please – Looking for common sense, moderate couponer – nothing TLC TV worthy, please.
- Must commit for foreseeable future – We will do a trial run for 3-months to make sure we are a good fit. But if things are going well – I’d love for someone to commit long-term.
- I’m a pretty easy-going, hands off team leader – but I do have high expectations. Queen Bee is (one of) my babies and I won’t trust it to just anyone.
Still interested?
You still here? If all of the above didn’t scare you away – wow, let’s do this. . .
Here are the next steps. . .
1.) Complete online application.
2.) Write a cover letter. Tell me why you think you’d be a good fit for the Queen Bee team. Remember writing is a big part of this job. Convince me your a good fit. Email your cover letter to thehive @ queenbeetoday.com (remove spaces), Use subject line: Cover letter (insert your name)
DUE April 20, 2012 at 9 p.m. PST.
I’m hoping to review applications next weekend (April 21-22) and contact qualifying individuals via email.
Please, please, please know – I may not be able to respond to everyone that applies or emails me. I was scared to do an “open call” for this reason, but I’m having a hard time finding someone otherwise. I will review all applications and will contact the people who fit the bill – to continue to the application process off-line. Please know that I won’t be able to hire everyone.
For my readers – Thank you for your patience with me as I ramp up the team. I know the posts haven’t been as frequent lately, but I’m still committed to only posting “real” deals that translate to real savings for my readers – and I’m still going to play a very active roll in the daily publishing here at Queen Bee Coupons. Hopefully more help, means more savings for you. 🙂
Questions? You can leave a comment on this post! Thank you!

Ohmigosh! Rite Aid shopaholic here. Too tempting…
This reminds me – how do you do the match-ups? Is there a program you use, or do type up all of the deals in the flyer, all the coupons from the paper and printables, then do a V-Lookup in Excel (or something)?
Heather says
I wish it was a fancy program – it’s all hand-typed and figured out manually by our coupon brains. 🙂 To do it right requires a lot of effort/time. We do have a coupon database that we reference for our coupons – but even that is copy/paste.

Awesome!! I <3 Albertson's and live just around the corner from one…literally! Also, I am very familiar with the staff there as our Girl and Cub scouts work with them frequently. I'll send you my app this evening!! Yay!!!! (P.S. I <3 doublers!!)

oh wish I could apply but I am not a couponer b/c I buy mostly whole foods and I have not seen many coupons that support purchases for healthier products, you know the one’s in the natural food isles. I live a frugal lifestyle but I don’t shop at those stores frequently enough. I wish I could help b/c I really would like a job from “home” but that’s the breaks! Good luck finding someone.

Whole Foods has their own coupons near the front doors in a magazine they call “The Whole Deal.” You can also print them from the website here: http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/coupons/
Check out sites like http://www.mambosprouts.com/ and your favorite manufacturers for printables, too. Sign up for their newsletters and you’ll get them in your email.

Not applying, just wanted to add some info. Reporting your income has nothing to do with a business license. All income earners are required to report. A business license is required by certain municipalities in order to operate a business within their boundaries. This allows you to do business within a city, and the licensure fees are recouped for municipality expenses. Check with your local city hall or county courthouse to see what applies to you.
Hope that helps!

Hi, I am not applying for a position you have offered. However, I would love to shadow one of you to to learn all about couponing, while being an unpaid “assistant”. I am all about clearance and sales and would love to learn about how to use the coupons at the same time. Let me know if you are interested. Thanks.

Hello Heather,
I would love to apply for one of the openings but I don’t have a business license. Just curious, about how many hours a week (with blogging, shopping in store and match ups) do you think one would work?
Thank you
Heather says
I heard from another blogger that you may not need a business license – as long as you’re reporting your income, that’s all that matters. I’ll update the post with that info.
As for hours, it depends. Rite Aid would probably be 2 hrs a week for weekly match-up. If you a regular shopper there, I just ask that you would share unadvertised deals that you find while you are there. Probably another hour a week posting random Rite Aid deals that pop-up due to printable coupons coming out.
Albertsons – 1-2 hours for match-up, please 1-2 hours for Doubler weeks.
Does this help?
Lori says
Yes it does help Heather..thank you. If a business license is not needed then I will go ahead and fill out the application so you have my info.

Exciting! I would so LOVE to do this but I rarely coupon at Rite Aid or any other drug store. I don’t shop at Albertsons frequently enough either. However, my fav places to bargain/coupon shop at are Safeway, Target and the Commissary on JBLM. Will you have a need for those stores in the future? If so, I’m your girl!
Thanks!
Heather says
I may need those stores in the future Dawn. If you’d like to apply, you can do so – and I’ll keep your information for other openings, if available. 🙂 No guarantees, but if you want to go through the process, I won’t turn anyone away willing to apply.

Great, thank you!
