Gift card BONUS promotions

Gift-card-bonus-offersThis time of year is a great time to take advantage of gift card promotions. Many companies are offering FREE bonus gift cards with purchase. Check out the Amazon Gift Card promotional page for new daily offers.

Although marketed for gift giving – it can also be a great way to get more for your money for restaurants or stores that you personally frequent regularly. For example – if you think you’ll spend $25 at IVARS in the next few months or year – it might make sense to buy a gift card for your future purchase and get yourself a $5 bonus gift card! It would be the equivalent of getting 20 – 25% extra for free.

Tips for taking advantage of these offers:

  • It’s only a good deal if you need the gift card
  • If purchasing for yourself to use, you need to keep it in safe place. Lose it and you’re out of luck.
  • Remember most grocery stores offer gas rewards from gift card purchases – this might be more valuable to you than buying the gift cards directly from the company, even with the bonuses.

Here are some current offers:

Applebee’s – Earn a $10 bonus card when you spend $50 on gift cards. Bonus cards expire 3/1/20.

Bahama Breeze – Earn two $10 Bonus Gift Cards when you purchase $50 in gift cards.Bonus cards are valid 1/1/20 – 3/1-20.

BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse – Get a $10 bonus card when you purchase $50 in gift cards – or $25 bonus card and a 20% off VIP coupon with $100+ gift card purchase. Bonus card valid 1/1 – 2/13 only.

Black Angus – Earn $10 bonus bucks for every $50 in gift cards purchased. Offer valid through 12/31.

Bonefish Grill – Get a $10 bonus card when you purchase $50 or more in gift cards. Bonus card valid 1/1 – 2/9 only.

6 Family-Friendly Activities To Do in the Snow, plus enter to win a year’s worth of Stephen’s Gourmet Hot Cocoa! #StephensCocoa

This post was sponsored by Mom It Forward and Stephen’s Gourmet Cocoa. All thoughts, ideas and opinions are my own.

Growing up in central Alaska every winter we played outside for hours in the snow and the cold. With temps easily under 20 degrees (and often below ZERO) we would bundle up from head-to-toe and we’d play until we were too tired or cold. And then we’d head inside for a mug of hot cocoa to warm us up from the inside out.

playing-in-snow-smiles{My daughter playing in the snow when she was about 4 years old!}

And now, my kids do the same thing here in Northern Idaho. Although the temperatures aren’t quite as cold, the hot cocoa hits the spot just the same. And there really isn’t much better than snow and hot cocoa when you’re a kid.

We recently had the opportunity to try Stephen’s Gourmet Cocoa and it really sets a new cocoa standard than the traditional mixes we’ve tried in the past. With flavors like Salted Caramel, Candy Cane, Mint Truffle, Dark Chocolate and S’mores – it’s rich and creamy while being a super tasty cup of hot cocoa.

DIY Costume Ideas – Raggedy Ann, bag-o-popcorn, Pacman crew, LEGO man

Piper_RaggedyAnn Pin it.

I know we’ve blown past Halloween, but I couldn’t move on without sharing some of the DIY costumes readers sent in this week. You’ll have to PIN them for next year, because they are some great ideas!

The adorable Raggedy Ann costume pictured above was sent in by Melissa. She writes, ” I love to craft, so I had the ribbon in her hair and on the straps of the apron sitting around the house already! I purchased some clearance white fabric from JoAnn’s for about $3 total.. And the dress was handmade by a friend who can sew and had fabric on hand. The hat/wig was crocheted, partially by a friend, and the yarn cost me about $10. Some lipstick and eyeliner that I already had completes the Raggedy Ann look! Not too shabby for $13!”

Baby-in-Bjorn-costume-PopcornPin it.

This Popcorn costume idea was sent in by Kylene, she wrote, “Since I knew I would be carrying my son while my older son goes trick-or-treating, I decided to do something that I could incorporate his carrier with. I decided to have him go as a bag of popcorn! The costume couldn’t have been easier, or cheaper. I took a white piece of felt I bought by the yard (on sale even!) and cut it to fit the carrier. I hot glued red stripes, also cut from felt, to make the bag. For the letters I printed out the text that I wanted from the computer and traced out on the felt. For the popcorn hat, I took a larger, stretchy hat and hot glued popped popcorn. All told, the costume took about half an hour to make, and cost less then $5. I received a ton of compliments during our town’s Halloween celebration, and we took 1st place in the costume contest!”

Pacman-Crew Pin it.

This adorable Pacman team was sent in by Clara, she wrote, “I bought the felt at JoAnn’s on 40% off deal so I made costumes for my family of 8 for a little over $10!  And we won the costume contest last weekend at Fred Meyer and got a $20 gift card.  And we did a simple tacking stitch so we didn’t ruin any of the shirts.”
