Is Zaycon Closed for Business? For Good?

I went to the Zaycon website this afternoon to check upcoming sales and was FLOORED to see they Zaycon closed for business!

The Zaycon website has the following closure message . . . 

“It is with deep regret that we inform you that as of today, June 25th, we are suspending business operations.. Zaycon Fresh has put forth monumental efforts to endure recent challenges but conditions are such that this suspension is necessary. Updates will be forthcoming as we are able to provide them.” 

I am so disappointed! I really loved Zaycon Fresh as a company and we’ve been customers for 5+ years. Just last week I picked up 40 pounds of chicken breasts! It was wonderful quality and I was once again, impressed by Zaycon’s product and quality.

It says “suspending business operations” instead of closing. . so I’m not sure if it’s a temporary closure or a long-term closure. I have as much information as you do.

Do you have a pending order for later this year? If you have an order for later this year, and you placed your order with a credit card – I would contact your credit card company ASAP to get a refund. Contact your bank or credit card holder and ask for a refund for non-fulfillment.

I do my best to only recommend companies that I believe are solid and fair. Zaycon Fresh has been such an amazing savings for us for so many years – I’m so disappointed to see them close up shop and go out of business. My biggest hope is that if you have a pending order that you’re able to get a refund from your credit card company and that you aren’t at a loss because of Zaycon going out of business.

    It doesn’t have anything to do with immigration. Zaycon is the middle of a lawsuit filed in 2016 by an investor and it doesn’t sound like Zaycon will win. I too have been a happy Zaycon customer for several years and paid for an order with my debit card to be delivered in September. I went into my credit union today and asked the branch manager what to do. She said we dispute the charge – it’s not a problem. I was pleasantly surprised. Running a business is difficult even with a good product and good prices. I’ll miss Zaycon’s products but it’s just shopping. It’s not the end of the world.

  2. You guys, please think… Who has been helping to raise and pack all that meat? Who has been driving the delivery trucks? I saw a news story earlier today about ICE raiding a huge meat packing plant in Ohio. I’m guessing it has something to do with that. We’re going to be facing some major produce shortages this summer too. The amazing, hard-working immigrants who pick our food will be gone.

    Seems they are being sued. I am out money which my bank will not cover on my debit card =( But if these folks were being sued https://www.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.wawd.238517.1.0.pdf Filed almost 2 years ago, then why are they taking orders if they knew they were going under? My meager 40lb chicken order was to be the winter meat source for my daughter and I. I have a below poverty income and disabled and this just sucks for us.

  4. Wow, I am shocked, too. We’ve ordered from them many times and just picked up a bacon order on Saturday. I had paid for a chicken order for October so I hope they are able to give refunds for future orders. If not, I’ll contact my credit card company; thanks for the tip on that.

  5. My bank told me I can’t file a dispute until they officially say they aren’t giving me a refund and even then, you can’t file a dispute after 60 days of purchasing.

  7. I have four pending orders from them for over $400. I just picked up cod from them Friday.

    I am so sad about this. We buy nearly all of our animal proteins from Zaycon.

    There is no quality like theirs at the grocer.

  8. Does anyone know of another company that sells bacon and chicken breast like Zaycon? I hate buying chicken in the grocery store, its usually all slimy and stinky! Hate to see them go out of business, but they have been having problems with their delivery dates since last year.

    I had a nice size credit through them. I guess there will be no recourse for that. Very sad I have loved their meats, and have referred to their company often.

    Possible fraud and illegal activities involving misrepresentation of the company to investors. They were trying to sell the company and in doing so they took the largest investor and fired him so they could keep the money themselves when the company was sold, even though he put millions into it.

  11. I have over $300 in unfilled orders. Just TWO days ago I received an email asking me to refer people to them. I had 4 orders for pickup tomorrow. This really upsets me that they did that.

  12. I was checking their website today because I have an order To pick up up later this week. So sad, I love their prices & quality.

  13. Zaycon has been one of the best companies I’ve ever done business with. The products are high quality and service is right on the money. I really hope this is a temporary closing.

  15. Do you know what option are available if I paid with debit card from my bank account? Thank you

    • Unfortunately, you’re probably out of luck since a debit card from a bank account is like a check/cash. If it’s a Visa or MasterCard, you could TRY contacting them to dispute the charge (for “nonfulfillment”), but I debit cards usually don’t have the same benefits as an actual credit card.

      • There are some protections available. I would contact your bank ASAP. I contacted my credit union this morning and they opened a dispute and I should know in 7-10 days.

        My bank won’t do anything, they say I have to go to Sheriff’s office and file a report, then go through courts with a lawsuit. Who can afford that?

    • Monica, your debit card was likely processed as a credit charge because it was via the website. Contact your bank. They’ll have the form for you to fill out. Good luck!

    • Contact your bank. I did and they credited the money back.

  16. I ordered bacon to be delivered May 15. Delivery had been pushed three times (latest was scheduled for July 11). Just submitted a dispute with my credit card. Super sad!! We had bought from them many times!
