With a class of 20-30 kids, Valentines can add up FAST! But these little caped cute-saders are relatively easy to make and you probably make 32 of them for under $4 (the cost of two bags of Tootsie Pops) – which comes out to 13 cents each. The ones pictured above are the real version – we made these for my son’s class last year. If you are more crafty you can make them closer to the picture from the Family Fun magazine where I found them:
I also made two for the teachers that just say “You’re a SUPER teacher” but you could also make them for family members – like “You’re a SUPER dad!” or whomever you have on your Valentine list. On the back of the capes, before we put them on the sucker, I had my son write his name on the back so his friends would know who they were from. You can use any color of paper.
Check out the Family Fun site for other crafty Valentines.
Are you doing fun, creative Valentine’s? I’d love to hear your ideas!

Don’t bother with the reinforced hole stickers. They keep coming off. I thought about electric tape as regular colored tape won’t hold either. The sharpie idea is much better. Going to try that!

Thank you for this! My mom is a teacher and is always spending about $40 for Valentines Day (she also supplements food for the party). She just drew on the masks with Sharpie and they look pretty cute.

Looking at the masks, you could use the little stickers used to reinforce hole-punched paper for the goggle part, and then you would only have to cut strips of paper. That might be a little easier. 🙂

Of course, I have no idea how much those stickers cost, so it could be just as expensive as store-bought Valentines if you did that. 🙂

It would certainly be easier! And then you wouldn’t have to tape them on, either. Good idea!
