Rise and Shine is my way of sitting down and having a cup of coffee with you! We talk about the new deals of the day, highlights from yesterday, and anything else that might help us save time, money or energy. Published Monday through Friday – as I’m able.
Good morning! The coffee is tasting extra delightful this morning. I have all the windows in the house open trying to cool off the house before we hit 83 degrees today. I’m such a heat wimp. I prefer a nice 70 degrees. 🙂 I won’t complain about the sun, though – I do adore that and I keep reminding myself to soak it in before fall rolls around and I’m soaking in – the RAIN!
I have a hankering for this Southwest Quinoa salad so I think I’ll be heading to the grocery store today to get the supplies. New grocery ads came out today – but I’ll probably hit up Costco. They have the best deal on the feta cheese and the peppers are a decent price. Found anything cool at Costco lately? The new coupon book starts tomorrow. We should have the final prices for you soon.
Although our summer in the Northwest has barely started we are already seeing school supply deals pop up. My school supplies from Staples arrived on Monday and yesterday I found a round of school supply deals from Amazon. The penny deals have started at the office starts and we should be rolling out coverage of those as we can.
I shop for school clothes all summer long – mostly at garage sales and thrift shops! Last night the kids and I stopped into Goodwill and I found a like-new Gymboree long-sleeve shirt for my daughter for $0.99 (half-price thanks to the yellow tag). Because I shop secondhand all year – and buy a size ahead – I find we don’t need to spend a lot of money on clothes when school rolls around. How do you save on school clothes?
Regal Cinemas Regal Summer Movie Express – $1 kids movies in full swing! Regal Cinemas offers $1 movie admission to popular kids movies at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout the summer.

I shop year round too. I also shop the clearance sales in late fall/early winter for school the following year. Last Dec I scored a bunch of Children’s Place and Carter’s for my son for around $50. Now I just will shop the thrift stores for the little things he needs. Course, it works pretty well now, when he’s 6; not sure about 16!
