This week I didn’t give my garden much attention because I was completely distracted with building a chicken coop. But the veggies just kept on growing! The rain certainly helped – I didn’t even have to worry about watering. My green lettuce head grew back and was harvested again, along with my bok choy. If you ever want to grow an easy and fast growing plant – I think bok choy is it! It grows so fast and seems to be pretty resilient, would others agree?
The rainbow chard that I planted foolishly all together and was transplanted a couple weeks back took off this week! I’ll be harvesting that, but I’m not sure just when.
The peas seem to be doing great although we just eat them as they pop up, so no big harvest there.
I transplanted two old blueberry bushes over to the garden area and my friend Celia just gave me a bunch of raspberry and strawberry plants which I can’t wait to get in the ground. š
I planted some lettuce, spinach and purple carrots about 10 days ago and so I’m starting to see the tiniest little sprouts popping up! Exciting.
What’s growing on in your garden this week?
Celia says
When you harvest the Chard, don’t harvest the entire plant. Just the leaves you want to use. It will continue to produce until it goes to bolt. And the stems are yummy too! š
