Seahawks Rice Krispies Treats
This recipe for Seahawks Rice Krispies Treats can be modified for any team you might be rooting for – but I think the blue and green is best. 🙂
1/2 Cup plus 1 teaspoon butter
100 Jet-Puffed Marshamallows (big) or
10 Cups of Jet-Puffed Miniature Marshmallows (divided into 2 Cup increments)
Blue and green food coloring
15 Cups of Kellogg’s Rice Krispies cereal (divided into 3 Cup increments)
The original recipe calls for 5 layers, which I’m sure would look much cooler, but I simplified and did three layers. Because the food coloring covers the whole pan, I washed the pan before layers. I hate dishes, so that’s why you see three layers and not five. 🙂 You do it how you like.
Instructions are for FIVE layers:
1.) In a medium saucepan melt 5 teaspoons of butter of low heat. Add 20 of the big marshmallows or 2 Cups of the small marshmallows. Stir until completely melted.
2.) Once melted, remove marshmallows from heat. Add your food coloring – blue or green, you pick your first layer. You will need to add a LOT.
3.) Stir in 3 Cups of Kellogg’s Rice Krispies cereal. Stir until well-coated.
4.) Using wax paper (or a buttered spatula), press the warm mixture into a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan that you’ve coasted with cooking spray (so the krispies don’t stick!)
5.) Repeat steps 1 through 3 four more times. Adding each layer to the previous one. Alternating blue and green layers.
6.) Cool and cut into squares. I think they look better if displayed on a plate so you can see the layers. Will probably taste best the first day, after the second day they get a little crunchy. 🙂
